Film Underground, the website(s) located at,,, and (collectively the "FU Websites"), are owned and operated by Bellingham Film School. ("BFS"). This Privacy Policy describes what personally identifiable information is collected on the FU Websites and how that information is treated by BFS. If you are not comfortable with BFS's policy, please do not use the FU Websites.

BFS is committed to providing the best filmmaking resources and information within a trusted environment. BFS strives to protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of all personally identifiable information collected as it builds a unique community for emerging filmmakers. Please read the following Privacy Policy carefully to understand how your personal information will be treated as you take advantage of our invaluable resources and offerings. BFS may change this Privacy Policy from time to time and you should review it periodically for any revisions and updates. The last revisions and updates were made on March 08, 2005.

What information do you collect and how will the information be used?

BFS collects information from our users at several different points on the FU Websites. Information is requested when you submit any material or information to the FU Websites, for instance, on bulletin boards, forums, chat rooms or news groups, or when you request information or purchase products. BFS will not share, rent or sell this information to others in any manner other than what is disclosed in this Privacy Policy.

BFS collects aggregate non-personally identifiable information from the BFS Site to monitor site usage for marketing and development. You do not need to register or provide any personally identifiable information to visit the BFS Site. This non-personally identifiable information helps us determine which pages are visited most, which are the most effective and which are the least effective.

In order to become a Film Underground member, you must first complete the membership form. You do not need to register to visit the FU Websites. If you choose to register as a member, you will be required to give contact information, such as your name and e-mail address. We may use this information to advise you of promotions, special offers on products, and online seminars that will enhance your online learning experience. We also require demographic information such as age and country in which you are accessing the FU Websites Site. You will also be asked whether you would like to receive our monthly Newsletter via e-mail.

The registration form also contains optional sections. We encourage you to complete these sections, as we are continually working to improve the site to meet your needs and expectations. The information collected will assist us in delivering the best and most robust online filmmaking experience to you. The more information that you can provide to us, the more we can give you an enhanced personalized experience on our site.

BFS also collects information when you buy products from the Web Site. This information is used for billing and order fulfillment purposes. BFS may use also this information to get in touch with you if we have trouble processing your order. The information will not be shared with third parties.

Will the information be disclosed to outside third parties?

BFS may disclose aggregate demographic information with our partners and advertisers, but the information would not be linked to any personal information that would identify any individual person. For example, non-personal information would include the number of times that an ad has been clicked on or viewed.

BFS may also disclose the personal information to any third party if:

1) required by law;
2) requested by subpoena or court order;
3) requested by officers of the court in the investigation of unlawful activities; or
4) in the good faith belief that the disclosure is necessary to identify persons who may be violating the law.

The information collected by BFS when you buy products from the FU Websites site is disclosed to our payment processor, merchant account and fulfillment house. The Film Underground store exists on a secure site, which you can verify by clicking on the secure site logo. Certain information, such as credit card numbers, must be disclosed to our merchant account. As well, information such as your name and address must be disclosed to our fulfillment house in order for you to receive any product that you have bought from us.

The FU Websites also contain many links to other websites. BFS, however, does not assume any responsibility for the privacy practices of those sites. BFS encourages you to check their individual privacy policies. BFS does not share any personal information with these sites, but BFS may share aggregate demographic information.

What are cookies and how are they used?

Cookies are small amounts of information that are stored on your computer's hard drive. Cookies are used to store information about your preferences, which can make future visits to the site more personalized and more enjoyable. BFS may send a cookie to your computer to enable us to track and target your interests and enhance your experience on FU Websites. For instance, a cookie would enable us recognize you when you enter FU Websites, so you would not need to enter your password each time you log on. A cookie would also enable us to remember the last page you were on and take you directly there instead of taking you to the home page. What about the security of my information?

BFS strives to protect your personal information and follows reasonable procedures to protect the security of any information collected. However, since no information transmitted over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, BFS does not guarantee or warrant the security of any information submitted or transmitted by you on the FU Websites and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your information, however, we use our best efforts to protect the security of your personal information.

E-commerce activities are conducted on a secure site. You can verify that the FU Websites store is on a secure site by clicking on the VeriSign™ Secure Site Seal located on the web page where you purchase a particular product.

What about information that I submit on your bulletin boards, forums and chat rooms?

Be careful of what you post online. Whenever you post personal information online and that information is accessible to the pubic, it can be collected by others. BFS will not be held responsible for the information that you post on the bulletin boards, forums, chat rooms, news groups and any other communications facility.

Can I correct or update or delete my personal information?

When you enter the FU Websites, you may opt out of disclosing any personal information that BFS requests by simply not registering as a member. However, you may not be able to take advantage of our invaluable resources and unique offerings, such as our monthly newsletter and e-mail updates that keep you informed of the latest special programs, special offers and developments at FU Websites.

What is your policy with children?

BFS encourages parents to get involved with the Internet activities of their children. Children should ask a parent or legal guardian before using the FU Websites.
