SUMMARY
-
You cannot release your movie on DVD or VOD before you have screened at festivals. In most cases, it is grounds for disqualification from a festival.
-
Your premiere is valuable, only use it for the highest bidder.
-
Don't spend money on high resolution masters until you have a deal in place or a festival has accepted your film. All you need in the beginning is a low resolution screener.
